New BX 22

I just ordered a new Kubota BX 22. I'm not sure if I need any additional options. Will I need hooks welded to the FEL for logging? Does anybody have any advice before I accept delivery. I got a price of $15,375 including delivery. Should I shop around more?

The price is in the right range, and yes have the dealer put two or three chain hooks on the bucket and reinforce the bucket back ($50-75). Also a toothbar ($250 +-) is a nice addition.

Most dealers will reinforce and add the hooks N/C, also, see if they will include the 50 hr service P/Up and delivery - about $200-300. However since you say it is "ordered" what they will include at this point is really dependent on the dealer.

As for logging with the BX this might be a bit of a stretch, since logging is heavy work, but if it is clearing and moving an occasional tree or firewood in a 4-6' length you should be OK.

Other attachments - 5' landscape rake or 4'Box blade and a mower unless you have one already.

What type of hooks should be added? Should they be added to the sides or middle? Is it normal to get the 50 hour service included in the deal?
The logging I would like to do is mostly for firewood. Anything else would be smaller poles.

While the 50 hr service is great to have included, it depends on the dealer and what their policy might be, it never hurts to ask about it. Nothing is normal, it just depends on your expectations.

The hooks are chain hooks you would find in the local hdw store for 3/8" chain welded to the top frame of the bucket at each corner and the middle, then the bucket is reinforced behind these hooks usually with some flat stock welded to the back top of the bucket. The dealer should know how to do this w/o lots of explanation.

Other things to add is a block heater, high output alternator, 4 way valve on the FEL, maintenance manual, loaded tires. and lift arm adjusters for the 3 pt, see thread below for additional info.web page
