All,

I have been a anonymous reader for some time, thanks to everyone on the site for their informative posts. Just before Christmas, I became a new BX2230 owner with FEL, 60" mower, and weight box. I live in south eastern PA.

My first question is related to my weight box. When parking the tractor, I have not been lowering the weight box. Today, I found that the weight box had dropped to the garage floor overnight. Is there a best practice? Should I lower the weight box when parking the tractor? Do I need to worry about the box dropping between occasional stops and starts while working with the tractor?

Thanks for your input.

Bill,

Congrats on the new toy, er tool /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Your 3ph just leaked-down. It's normal for hydraulics. The FEL will do same given enough time. You can lower the hitch when you park, or just let it leak-down, no worries.

You should see what a backhoe does. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Shouldn't be a problem when your runnin the machine.

Happy new year,

If you are not operating your tractor for several hours lower all hydraulic attachments and the three point lift. This will relieve the pressure on the seals and valves. It will also take away some of the danger from accidentally dropping on a child or someone else.(ex. rear implements or loader)
