BX2230
I have been watching this board for a few weeks and last night I pulled the trigger and bought a BX2230 w/ FEL (LA211) 60" MMM & turf tires. It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow morning. Can't wait. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I live in Wisconsin and have 7 acres. We are currently building a house and there is a ton of landscaping and mowing in my future. There is also a 300' driveway to plow in the winter. I have a feeling the new Kubota is going to get quite a workout in the next few years.

I am sure I will have plenty of questions once I get my tractor and I know everyone here will give me great answers just like the ones I have been reading. Hopefully someday I can return the favor.

For anyone who is interested I paid 12,500 + 5.5% tax delivered.

Maybe I shouldn't reply to my own post, but I am going to do it anyway.

I shopped a JD2210 and Case Farmall DX25E also. The dealers were all great. The 2210 was $14000 and the DX25E as $14250. I picked the Kubota because it was the best bang for the buck and from everything I have read a great little tractor.

OK, maybe I shouldn't do this to you, but for what you say you'll be doing with a tractor, you may want to see if you can get the next size up, like a B7510 or B7610. I've found that my little subcompact can be too small for many of the chores of rebuilding a house and completely re-landscaping the property. It'll do the job, but there have been so many instances where I've wished for a bigger machine, that once I finish this house, and when I move to another fixer-upper on a little more land, I'm going to upgrade to a larger machine.

I can't move most of the lumber packs around the site with my little subcompact - they're too heavy, and we're not talking about very big lumber packs.

I have to rent a larger machine whenever I plant larger trees, as they're too heavy for my little machine to unload them off the truck and carry them around the yard.

All the landscaping takes a lot longer to do with the little machine.

I can't reach over a 30 yard roll-off with my FEL. I can't move a 30 yard roll-off with my little machine.

I can't pick lumber up off my ladder racks on my truck with my little subcompact FEL, cause it doesn't reach high enough.

Don't get me wrong, these little machines are great, but for a big project like building a house and landcaping a new yard, and doing it all in a timely manner, there are some serious limitations to these little machines.

Anyway, just wanted to at least bring this up, just in case no one's told you what to expect. Welcome to TBN, and if you decide to go ahead and take delivery of the BX2230, I guarantee you will enjoy it. Just remember when you are telling yourself at some point during all this work that some guy on TBN suggested you get a bigger machine, and you should have taken his advice more seriously, that you need to have an arsenal of reasons to justify why you went ahead and got the smaller machine, so you don't kick yourself. And just blame the guy that gave you that suggestion to get a bigger machine for not saying anything sooner. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wish you good luck with your new bx2230. I love mine. It"s an awsome machine. No problems at all. I"ve owned mine for 10 mts. now. I have the 54 inch mower deck, the 50 inch snowblower, the FEL and a weight box. Plenty of power and yes you can dig virgin dirt with it. It takes a little time but the job will get done just the same. My only suggestion would be to purchase a tooth bar, it makes a big differance. Again good luck, enjoy and be safe.

Marshall, WI.

The tractor was sitting next the barn tonight when I got there. It even had a full tank. Drove it a little and ran the mower. Can't wait to give it a real workout this weekend.

As far as the previous post about size. I debated this quite a bit. I looked at a used 2910 w/ 50 hours. I drove and felt it was too much. I am not doing the building myself, just the landscaping. Once the landscaping is complete I will have about 2 - 3 acres to mow and the driveway to plow. I think the landscaping will take longer with this tractor, but in the long run the smaller tractor will be more than enough.

Congrats, the BX does a very good job mowing for me. Seems it does so well that it's cut down my seat time which when I think about it, tain't so good!

There has been a few posts here where new owners have discovered that their MMM's bearing weren't properly greased. I'd recommend to either question your dealer to make sure he has greased them or just go on ahead and shoot some grease into them. You can't ever have too much hrease in them anywho.

Enjoy

Congratulations first.

I have to say you might have bought the wrong tractor if your remodeling is the primary objective but the long term activity will prove to be fine for a 2230.

Each situation is different but I think you'll be really happy with this machine. I know I am.

Welcome to another cheesehead! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I think you'll find that in the long run, your new toy will be just right. I think it's better to purchase for your needs over the long haul rather than be tempted to go a little bigger at the beginning when you have larger projects for only a short time.

Please post some pictures when you get a chance.
