No, do not chnage your oil early. Additionally, do not change your oil any more frequently that the book calls for. Always run the oil to max time or hour intervals. Changing oil too often can be detrimental to today's newer engines running today's advanced oil. I realize this may sound counterintuitive but you can actually do damage to modern engines by changing the oil too frequently.
During initial break-in of an engine friction is required to properly seat engine parts. The engineers have carefully calculated what oil should come new with an engine and how long an engine should be run on the initial fill before changing. Some manufacturers even add friction modifers to the oil at the factor with the anticipation they will be used in an engine per the amount of time stated in the owners manual.
Too frequent of oil changes can have a determental effect as well. Modern oils have additive and detergent packages to meet the high demands imposed on engines today. These additives are very strong and designed to last a certain amount of time before breaking down. By changing the oil too frequently you are keeping the engine supplied with a high concentration of the additives, some of which are meant to clean various internal components. Therefore, although counter intuititve, too freqent changing of oil and filters can have a begative impact.
Further, to a point, filters are most efficient once having collected some dirt in them. For example a brand new air filter will not stop as much dirt as a somwhat dirty airfliter. (whatever yo do NEVER blow out an air filter!!!! VERY BAD) Obviously, do not run an air filter past the point where light cannot be seen through it. However, I cannot tell you how many time I had customers come into my dealership that changed filters that may to them have looked dirty but had many, many hours of safe use left in them.
In fact, I would keep these filters and run them on my own equipment!! (I always advised the customers not to over change and do early maintenance but 99% didn't listen to me and some called me an idiot or incompetent. It's a generational thing mainly. My father insists on changing the oil in his Caddy every 2500 miles...such a waste!!!)
Also, for anyone not familar with diesel engines and Diesel engine oil...the oil will turn dark / black very quickly in diesel applications. Do not be alarmed by this and do not think that means the oil needs changed. You cannot tell simply by the color of oil how dirty it is.
Unless something happens outside of normal use...and I'm betting 99% of people here use their tractors on the light side of normal...not even close to heavy use....change the oil and filter to the max intervals suggested by the owners manaual. Save money, time and the environment by not overchanging your oil---same for your car.
My new Ford C-Max Energi can go 20,000 miles or (2) years between oil changes!
