My first post here too ;-)

I have 6.5 acre (1.5/5 yard/pasture) and was using a Troybilt 46" and a Yanmar YM2000 (24hp diesel). I have a 48" blade, a 60" chain harrow, a 48" Howse rotary mower, and a 48" 2-row disc. I am wondering if I should keep the Yanmar (would like to get the $$$ out of it), and which implements would run good on the BX, and if I should upgrade any (especially the Howse)?

I got the BX2660 with a 54 MMM, and it is my finishing mower for sure (weekly mowing). I think I will use the BX for the pasture mowing, which I do every few weeks. I run the chain harrow to drag manure pretty regularly, and it's fairly rare the I run the blade and the disc. However, I would like to build some gavel roads and a drainage ditch along one side of the pasture.

Any comments welcome (hope this isn't too much for a 1st post).

Thanks

I purchased a BX1860V in December and i picked up a 16 disk howse Harrow, a 48 in boxblade, 48 in fine cut MMM, and I could not live without the FEL. With the turf tires I run out of traction before i run out of power. That is even with the rear tires loaded.
The disc that you have should still work for the BX2660 just add weight to it to make it cut deeper.

A box blade would come in handy for the ditches and road construction/maint.

Beautiful spread you have there. Things are just looking green again up here. Anyway, to your question, I think most of the implement sizes you have look right for a BX (can't say on the 2-row disc - never used one). I would suggest, however, that you could go 60" on a rear blade. That's the size I have and it works good for loose material and snow removal. Your 48" version might be better for cutting virgin soil, however.

Pretty much in agreement with CHDinCT, I use a 60 back blade on my BX2660, 48" box blade, Land Pride RTR0550 tiller, and a 48" Land Pride rotary cutter.

This is my second BX and they are great little tractors, you will be surprised at what you can accomplish with one.

Although I've never tried to build a gravel road or drainage ditch, it looks like you will need a 5 ft blade (as others have said) that will offset and tilt and has as much weight that the width of the 3 pt can handle. I suppose one would have to be careful in such work because the BX2660 doesn't have much ground clearance even though it's got the grunt to do it.

Do you have a loader on the Yanmar?
