Kubota BX2860
This BX2660 came home new a month ago. Last week a seal failed at 18 hours and all the hydraulic fluid ended up in my driveway - I spent 4 hours last Monday at the dealer waiting to get that fixed.

Yesterday, at 29 hours, I turned the ignition switch off - and the tractor kept running. The Temp and Fuel Gage's drop down and the Tach goes off as if it shut off, but the engine keeps running. The safety kills don't work (they did before this happened). If I engage the PTO, and step out of the seat, the MMM engages and continues to run. The the HST forward and reverse will engage if I'm out of the seat.

I shut it down by putting the HST in high, setting the parking brake, and stalling it. I've started it twice since but the the same situation recurs.

So first thing Monday it is back onto the trailer and 50 miles back to the dealer - and another day lost from work.

I'm beginning to wonder if this thing came off the assembly line on a Friday afternoon.

I can imagine your frustration, I bought Kubota because I wanted a trouble free machine and have been right five times, I doubt I would have such a positive opinion if my first tractor had been so problematic. I sure hope they get it fixed for you and it is as reliable for you as mine have been for me.

In this casr the dealer should come to you or at least tell you how to fix it and give you the part. Once it's fixed you should never have another problem in your life time since you've had them all already and actually more than usually happens in 10 years.
As TripleR says, I've bought 15 over 9 years and never had any problem like these. Maybe 2 or 3 issues, can;t remember but 2 and Barlows gave me a new fuel lid for the one and replaced the FEL arms on the other one. Not saying there weren't more but I can't remember them if there were. One of the reasons most or many people buy Kubotas from several states away that are better prices. Dependability. Also Barlows helps after the sale.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I agree with JT, the dealer should come to you and fix it. Based on your description, I suspects it's an easy fix. I have a a new 2360 and the pnly prblem it has is the ineptmess of it's operator! (So far). We would be interested to know what the problem is when you get it fixed. Good luck! : )

The only warranty issue I remember having, the dealer sent a mechanic to see if it could be fixed on site and when it couldn't they sent a truck 40+ miles to pick it up and return it at no charge. Like John, I place a high priority on dealer service and reward good service with repeat business.

A fellow from Australia (OTT forum - thank you kubseki) was kind enough to direct me to a MTT post on shutting down using the fuel injector cut-off (http://www.mytractorforum.com/showthread.php?t=144843), and I see that this issue may be about a 20 Amp fuse. Tomorrow I'm going to try hooking up a wire to the fuel injector pump shut down.

I was considering taking it back to the deater, but since reading Dave's post, if I can get the shut-off to work, I may just call the dealer and have them come out to fix it.

I have had 4 orange critters and have had only one problem, a leaking fuel tank. Dealer came out and repaired no charge

next time you want to shut it off and key doesnt work -- open the hood and look for solenoid on top of engine and push on the plunger. This is the shutoff for fuel which is how the tractor is shut off when fuse is not blown. After shutoff - you should be able to find your blown fuse behind the screen under the dash on right side.

Got it figured out.

After reading Dave's (volfandt) 2010 post on the MTT Kubota SCUT forum, and not seeing any fuses blown, I started thinking (finally) that perhaps some other electrical issus akin to a blown fuse might be causing it. I started tracing the wiring harness and connections and found a seperated plug (see photo). That was all it was. I assume that when it was assembled, the plug lock had not fully engaged and while it was shaking away at idle, it finally shook lose.

The BX is working again!

Interesting that when it is under warranty, I don't engage my brain, thinking first that it must be some fatal flaw - get it back to the dealer and let them fix it. Obviously I need to settle into ownig this thing and get used to working with it, instead of just sitting on it, driving it around, and expecting it to take care of itself.

Thanks to all of you who responded. I'd have wasted a day if it wasn't for the information available and advice offered on these forums. Nice to know that you are not alone with your BX, and that folks are so willing to give of their time to help.

Thanks for this tip radioman - I've got that one filed away for future reference. Much appreciated. BX2660 Wiring Harness.JPG
