Well, my trusty old JD 316 died last week after 18 years of good service. So I quickly consulted this board and reviewed the information about the CC. After gather this information and talking with the dealer, I decided on the 2550. I'm also getting the 42 inch, dual stage snowblower for it.

I drove one around the dealer's yard, nice rig, much smaller then the old JD. The mounting of the deck should go much quicker. I didn't like at how hard the blower is to mount, the JD was very easy to mount. The safety crap about cutting in reverse is a joke, but thats govern't. Overall, it looks to be well design and built.

I saw some post about checking the light wiring, anything else to check. What about breakin procedures/oil changes.

Thanx's to the board for all your posts, which helped me greatly in this purchase.

Brian

I purchased it from Better Power Equip. in Waterbury. Easy going place, very down home. Part of the reason for purchasing the CC vs another JD was having a dealer vs big box. The JD that I had purchased from went belly up years ago. I just got a call and the machines been put together and will be delivered tomorrow.

I'm from Michigan and bought some hubcaps for my CC from Dave at Better Power Equipment in Waterbury (over the phone)! Very nice guy and full of info on the Cub Cadets!

I bought a 2550 back in March and I currently have about 36 hours on it. As previously mentioned, watch out fot the headlight wiring/muffler heat sheild clearance. You will need to change the oil oout after 5 hours of operation and there is a break-in procedure for the engine and pto clutch. It is well spelled out in the manual. It is a fine running and cutting machine with a lot of power. I hope that you will enjoy it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
