You are paying them to do it right, and this is a pretty big mess up. I would tell them to make it right before paying them, and then I would look real close at every single thing they have done because I no longer have any confidence in their work.

CORRECT THAT NOW!
I did a remodel a while back where we had to trim 5 passageway doors and 3 closets that were double bifolds. What a P.I.A.
It was either trim the doors or a major plastering job and I hate plastering.
Due to amateur workmanship raising the headers was not an option either.
Adding insult the ceilings were 'popcorn' and water damage required some creative patching.

spoke with the contractor this afternoon. His crew is going to be here next week supervised by him to make it right as he was personally unaware of the problem until it was brought to his attention today.Thanks for the support.

Framing is usually very easy to fix, so don't fret too much -- just keep the builder informed of things that need to be fixed and make sure they are fixed before drywall goes up!
