New cutter - catastrophic failure

Kodiak, who makes the implements for Mahindra, is junk, very poor quality control. Whoever is welding the equipment is either blind, lazy or both.

I bought a box blade and landscape rake when I bought my Max28, I called the salesperson and flat out told them I would be embarrassed if that equipment came out of my shop. Their response was to refund me 100 bucks. I had to put in wider spacer to even be able to mount the box blade, I never even used it and sold the box blade at a loss and will eventually fix the welds and repaint the landscape rake. I would take that back to the dealer and get my money back if I were you. That's what I wish I would have just done.

Quality is not job one at Mahindra. Just another example of it. And i know the corporate office reads these forums, because they called me about my issues.

Since corporate office reads these forums what is Mahindra doing improve quality control? Lets get some answers please or are you waiting til you are faced with a law suit by somebody who was or will be injured by your negligence?

I had asked Ms. Dinorah Harrelson at corporate offices to have my local Mahindra rep to call me, never had the courtesy of the rep calling. me. Shameful.

The only bush hog I have taken apart was similar to that one except that the flat bar was welded with a full pen weld to the gear box hub and the stump jumper was held in place by the blade bolts, no weld on the stump jumper.
That one should have been welded solid (where the tacks are) from both sides, the flat bar to the gear hub. For that much stress, I would have done a full pen weld on to the flat bar rather than a fillet.

The stump jumper is only held on with the bolts that attach the blade..

Dealer exchanged it in about 15 min. Was on the phone with Kodiak giving them an ear full. Happy with my dealer.

There use to be a time when workers took a great deal of pride in their work , unfortunately those days have long gone by for most . It is all about doing the least you can get by with , and that goes for some big companies as well .

Good for your dealer. That weld looks like day one of welding school, scary!!! You'd think someone looks at this stuff before it gets into the customer's hands. From the many post I have read on this site it would seem that implement quality is hit and miss.
