Oil & Fuel New Diesel, good or bad?

I have noticed that the new diesel fuel that is available at most gas stations now say that they are now 'low sulfur for the new model cars'. I really would prefer to use the 'off road fuel' but I havent been able to locate an outlet near by yet. So, I was wondering if there would be any problem using the new fuel in my '95 Mahindra 485DI for awhile till I could locate the other type of fuel? Any info greatly appreciated in this matter. Thanks.

Been running nothing but ULS (Ultra Low Sulphur) in my 6500, Gator HPX, and 25-year-old A-C 5020 for almost a year now (as well as in the 2007 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax which REQUIRES it). It is still #2 diesel -- just with a lot lower sulphur content. Reduces the SO2 emissions and the tendencey to produce a bit of suphuric acid (H2SO4) which is nothing good for an engine anyway. Around here unless you have a tank big enough to take a 600 gallon delivery, there is almost no cost benefit to off-road, so my local Citgo station which is a 3-minute tractor drive away provides the ULS stuff for everything.

I don't think you will have a problem. It is my understanding that even farm fuel is now just dyed ULSD (at least it will be once all the old stuff is used up). I have been running ULSD in a 4320 that was built in '72 w no problems. and in my 5005 Mahindra, and in my 95 and 97 6.5TD Chevies and so on and so on and so on....
I believe you need a top cylinder lubricant like Lucas or Powerservice (of course, I don't ever remember filling a diesel tank w/o putting Lucas in it) and you may have to change fuel filters a little early when the built up varnish and gunk get flushed out of your tank and lines.
