Pasquali 986
Not quite sure if this is the right forum for this question, but I'm looking to change the exhaust on my Pasquali 986 for a non-standard quieter one. It's working fine with the current exhaust but it's very (that's very) noisy so I was wondering if it would help if I put a different exhaust on it.

This would obviously be one produced for a different tractor so what I'm wondering is, is it as simple as finding one the same diameter or bigger, cutting the exhaust pipe where the current exhaust comes out of the engine and attaching on the new silencer, there seems to be plenty of room for an upright exhaust? Or is this a really bad idea that will drastically effect the running of the engine.

The existing exhaust seems OK, a bit of surface rust but no holes or anythiung.

Sorry if this offends any purists, but this is a working tractor on an olive farm. I currently just wear ear protectors but don't like them as it means I can't hear whats going on around me, it's very hot here in Spain and I've got funny shapes ears that ache after half an hour with defenders (nobodies, perfect:)) plus there's a rental place next door and it must disturd their guests.

It would be great to hear from anyone whose done a similar thing or if anyone has the same tractor which is OK with the standard exhaust, implying mine might have an internal fault?

Thanks massively for any help

As long as the silencer you plan on adding has the pipe diameter the same or bigger than the factory one, I see no problems on adding the muffler. I'm afraid it might not make an huge difference on reducing the sound, but will probably help some. You can always slap a muffler on the tip of your current exhaust before spending too much time on fabricating the new exhaust, just for testing purposes and might give you an idea of the final product.

These single and two cylinder diesel engines are indeed quite noisy. The three cylinder ones are way quieter.

One of the Toselli crawler tractors I had, used a 2 cylinder VM engine. Someone thought it was a good idea to use a 1" pipe straight to the back of the tractor, when the factory pipe was like 1 5/8". That thing would barely rev up as it was choking up so much.
