New discovery on cold start

Norm, I also have thougt about this? , There has got to be some sort of explanation as to why this is? I know with my kubota it did help sometimes to pull the decompression release lever in order to get it fired up, although this was after I felt I had flood the cylinder and was using this method to help to clear it out, I think by my theory only if an engine is cold and hard to turn over you can release the compression on the cylinder and have it turn over 10-20-seconds the friction created by the rings will help to warm the cylinder walls and when I warm the plugs it makes it that much easier to start, I'm probably wrong but this is only a theory,...
Norm I see you are from Fort Lauderdale not too far from where I lived back in the mid 60's place call Hollywood, up the road from the Hog farm and the Seminole Indian reservation, do you get around that area much? I bet lot of changes over the 40+ years

Obviously a translation error, even in the factory manual. Yep, used to spend a lot of time working in Hollywood and all over the county, repairing cash registers and computers in most of the bars, restaurants and hotels. Been here since '54, worked for NCR Corp. from '61 thru '93.

If you mean Naples, that's on the west coast, about 75 miles across Alligator Alley. Used to go over there occasionally.

Thanks guys. It looks like I do have the TS system. I assume you fill the little pot with diesel? Do I fill it everytime, just enough for one start, or fill it up and it just takes a little each time?

Check it each time you re-fuel the tractor.

I use a plastic turkey baster (giant eyedropper) to fill it since it's impossible to be that precise from a 5 gallon jug.

Some people replace the original reservoir with the self-fueling model used on later Yanmars. The injector return hose goes through the TS reservoir on that version.

The TS element burns out eventually so test it once in a while. Turning the key to TS position should dim the dash lights slightly when it is working properly.

Just the other day I tested mine--It is so pleasant to see the frost start melting off the outside of the manifold. :D

Well I filled the little pot, followed all the instructions, and it fired right up at minus 8C. Don't know if it was working or not, but it started well considering the temperature.

So many thanks for the information.
