New DK 40 HST: Cannot open hood?

So here it is. Got it one hour ago. Huge compared to the old CK25.

Why can i not open the hood? I am pulling the knob, pulling while pressing on hood etc. Afraid I'll break off the knob on day one.

Any thoughts?

CK 25 I had to push on hood while pulling on knob. Not working here.

Should not require you to push on the hood. I just opened mine and it did help to hold down the knob while lifting the hood after the initial "click" of the hood opening.

Make sure you hear a click when you pull the release. If you haven't heard it...you won't get the hood open. If you don't know, push the hood down and try the release again.

Now spray some Lube on that sucker.

Lube up the latch mechanism(I used a spray lithium grease) & spray some Blaster or Kroil down the cable sleeve. Mine used to hang up on me until I had lubed it 2-3 times over a 6 month period.
