Well, after the last fishing / cookout we had here, the north dock on our small fishing pond was about to fall in. So it was time to replace it, with the weather around here so cool and dry, the pond is about 20" down, great time to build the dock. I began by designing of a new 2 level dock with a place for a park bench and a lot bigger.

This attached picture is of the plans I did to build the dock.

Here is a picture of the new upper level frame work while using the CASE DX33 FEL to press the posts into the pond bed before we add concrete. The post is leaning because it was not setup to press yet.

Here is another picture from yesterday, with me trying to get down to were the post needs to be set and readied. Kind of hard to do with only one person doing the work.

Had to stop for the night, will resume again tonight (Monday), will have more pictures as the dock progresses.

Nice pictures, looks like you have a nice pond. I also like your profile picture, looks like you have an umbrella and a moluccan cockatoo. Cheers

Hi Eddie,

Pond is looking great this year after a 3 year battle with weeds and algie. The birds are both moluccans, females, 11 years old, they both think I'm there mate.

Here is an elevation drawing of the dock without any railing, still debating on the railing, may just put some on the steps area. Have a lot of older people, over 70 yrs old, come to our cookouts, may need the railing.

Steve, I had a similar situation last year. I built a gazebo on my pond with a 4 foot deck on all 4 sides. I knew I needed a railing but did not want the standard railing with pickets placed every few inches. I ended up putting a bench seat all the way around the gazebo allowing the bench to serve as the railing.

I'm attaching a picture I took last December while the gazebo was still under construction. The picture is small but I hope you can see what I did. The bench on the side closest to you has not been installed.

It is the only picture I have, but if you need a close-up I'll be glad to take one tomorrow.

Bob,

That gazebo of yours is awesome! I love it.

How about some more pictures. How did you finish off the inside? Is it just sitting on the rock or did you put in piles of some kind? Does it have power and drinking water?

Thanks,
Eddie
