Neighbors/friends just bought a new 75 hp Deer and 10' brush cutter.
They delivered cutter first and having been a shop foreman for years, looking it over I saw a clean grease fitting.
I pointed it out to the wife and told her to tell them she found it!
She grinned and said I can do that.
They delivered the tractor this afternoon. I saw 2 more fittings on the FEL.
I quietly told her about them, she grinned again and gave me a thumbs up. :)
I left after that, have to see how much trouble I stirred up tomorrow. :)
I knew a lady with a small Kabota tractor that she had bought new.
When I saw it a few years later it had never been greased.
I guess it wasn't serviced before being sold. ??

Watch out for leaking hydraulic fittings. I had several on my JD 5055E when it was delivered.

I understand what you're on about... the 'wet-up' of tractors, and implements, can result in missed greasing, torques applied, tightening and fluid levels.

It happens and people are fallible.

I was taught to wipe a grease fitting before you apply the gun and then wipe it clean when you are finished and not leave a gobby glop of grease everywhere. I come from the pharmaceutical world where messy fittings and bearings are a no no. Think of it as another reason why your medicine is safe, effective and expensive.

Perhaps the dealer hired a true craftsman that cleans up after himself not just an Uncle Ed's Oil Shop flunkie.

When I first learned to lube cars at gas station, owner taught me to wipe clean all grease fittings before applying grease and wipe clean after applying grease, and to wipe excessive off of "joint" where grease squeezed out... Funny thing is learned process has not changed for me in 57 years...

For eons I purchased a light grey grease. Then in 2009 I purchased my new Kubota M6040. I started using a grease with lithium. Whatever - this new grease is black as black can get. Now I wipe before AND after greasing.
