New experience: (Gran)Daddy/(Gran)Daughter Dance

My nine year old granddaughter had a Daddy/Daughter Dance last night. My firefighter son in law had to work and could not take her this year. So I got drafted.

I had a great time and she was a beautiful 'date'.

She had on a fancy dress and was wearing white Converse hi-tops. So I showed up with a white shirt and tie and black Converse hi-tops. Should have seen her face.

Some of the parents (mothers) had to have spent a small fortune on the dresses/shoes/jewelry/hair that these kindergarten to fifth graders had. The daddies ended up carrying the high heeled shoes around while the daughters ran around barefoot and rolled on the floor in those expensive clothes.

After the dance we were walking to the car and she hugged me, thanked me for coming with her, and told me she loved me. THAT made me realize how fortunate I am to be a part of my grandchildren's lives.

Grandkids are just GRAND!!

Indeed they are! They can bring tears to your eyes about as quickly as anything I know of...expecially my (not so little now) Princess.

Yep grandkids are a hoot . . . and you get to give them back (most of the time, we ended up raising one) although I would not change a thing. :thumbsup:

I danced with my six year old grand daughter eighteen years ago. Now I am being asked for rides in my farm wagon by my two great grand daughters. My great grand daughters HAVE what my grand daughter lacks - a love for the country life. Rides around the property in a ten ton farm wagon - turns sitting with me driving the big 'ol tractor. "Great grandpa - Why doesn't your tractor have a horn?" Man - you gotta love it.
