Cannot find the price closer to the South states. I am in NY, test drive JD3320, MF1540,KB L4400. Their prices are all about 2000 more than the price I saw from this forum. After that I went to New Holland to see a TC40A/12x12 gear trans/250TL loader/fold Rops/Grill Guard/Heat Block/AG Tires/Uprade 3p Hitch/Canopy/0down0%60month/$15month insurance for burn or stolen/NH 72" HD Tiller/$182 Apply fee, 22500+400(canopy)+1012(insurance for 60m)+2675(tiller)+182(apply fee)=25575 (446 monthly payment), I can feel 22500 still on the high end price but closer than other models I saw . But the guy told me AG tire is more expensive than R4 tire? , any comment? Thanks first.

I think the $22500 is about $1500 high and the tiller is over $1000 more than a King Kutter tiller. I'd keep negotiating on the tractor and not buy the NH tiller. You could save as much as $2500 if you are careful.

Your are right. Just call the local KK agent, 6' only $1585, 5' only $1389. Jinman,do you think KK is same level as Land Pride or Maschio?
Thanks,

If you catch them at the right time of the year, the KK tiller retails for ~1300 for a 6 ft model(in KS anyway). I like mine, and was rock picking with it this year, with no issues. I don't know how they compare to other brands, but it would be difficult to imagine me being harder on it than I was this spring, and it only bent the 3-point pins a little bit(because I didn't have the tph hitch in close to the tiller).

Late fall and early spring are when the discounts hit. I didn't buy it at the optimum time, and spent about 50$ extra.

Thanks,

I don't have direct experience with Land Pride or Maschio, but the KK that I have is a gear drive tiller and made very well. It comes with a slip clutch and has bracing in all the right spots to make it very sturdy. So, I guess I'd just say that I can't see how any tiller would be $1000 better than the King Kutter. The fact that a KK tiller and repair parts can be purchased at any TSC store makes it even a better value in my book. Anytime you can save 40% on something, you have to consider it. In this case, there are many owners of KK tillers on TBN. I have not heard any complaints about them except one dealer who supplied the wrong PTO shaft with the tiller.

So, my experience and many others have been pleasant with the KK tiller, and that leads me to believe they are a well-made implements.

Many times a tractor dealer can put a package of implements together to go with a tractor and finance the whole package for you. I guess if you are short on cash, that could get you into a machine you need, but I think in general it also means that you pay even higher prices. You pay a high price for an implement and then you pay the financing too. Ouch!

In these days of "easy credit," it is very easy to spend so much for something that you will never get a payback in any reasonable time. I think it's wiser to pay less and pay cash if at all possible. If you are cash "strapped" and need the financing, then do it. But, do it very cautiously.

I don't mean this to be a lecture or directed toward you. It's just a general statement about what I consider to be one of many "credit traps" lurking at some dealers. They lure you in with zero interest on a tractor, but those implements are not part of that zero interest package. Borrower beware...

When I bought my tiller some years ago I found that partically all originated in Italy or were built mainly from parts made in Italy. Perhaps thats changed slightly since Turkey and China are picking up some implement business but I think its still mostly an Italian product. I wound up mail ordering a Caroni from an agri-supply (they have a website) in NC (lived in NH at the time) for slightly more than $1k which included frieght. So the advice you got above is, in my view, very sound. Theyre all going to be essentially the same animal w/i a certain duty class.

Note: When you search the agrisupply site look for tillovator not tiller.

If he's telling you Ag tires are more expensive, ask him to change the order to R4's and see if he lowers your price. Typically R4's are more expensive, and R1's (ags) are the base price.

NH dealers can finance other brands of attachments/equipment with the tractor as long as they don't account for more than 25% of the cost. You do not need to feel obligated to buying NH.

If NH is offering 0% for 60 months on a tractor, will they also give you 0% for 60 months on implements for that tractor up to 25% of the total tractor's cost? Or, will the implements have a higher finance rate?
