What do you guys think about a tab on the home page where it lists a couple hundred web links sorted by catagory? Links could be to governmental and private sites. Links to general informational sites would be the best ones. Here are some suggested catagory titles.

Tractor mfgr: JD, Kubota, etc anyone selling more than 1000 units per year

Hydraulic/PTO attachents: Woods, Huskee, Bushhog, KK, a site with cat 1,2,3 standards, etc

Laws/rules/safety: towing sites, weigh station info, state regs, fed regs, etc

Oils, fuels, filters: links to all major oil company sites, Mr Funnel, a ULSD info site, rules on on-road fuels, etc

Tires/rims/tubes/ballast liquid: tire mfgr and retailers, patching site, etc

Engine mfgrs: yanmar, etc

Hydraulics: Parker, etc

Major retailers: agri-supply, TSC, etc

Trailers/towing: all types including dump, hay, UTV, etc Chain and binder info

Many TBN members have posted valuable charts on fuels, chains, tires, etc It would be good to have a quick easy refernece library of sites. It would save a lot of searching through old posts if a site about all the different hydraulic fitting standards was available 24/7. US, metric, JIC, etc the same concept would apply to dozens of other subjects.

I can't stress enough the value of the messages posted by the old timers so the newbies can learn. Their insight and wealth of knowledge shared so openly is what makes TBN so great. I believe these links could enhance TBN.

If this gets implemented, I would like a free lifetime membership to TBN as payment for the idea!!!!

Re: New feature needed on TBN Hakim????

It'd probably be better to post this down in the site/feedback forum.

As for the idea itself, I think it's OK, but the administration of such a list would be a nightmare.

Imagine having to click on each link every day to make sure that the vendor hasn't changed their website or removed it completely!! Then having to go in and update any changes... blah, not something I'd enjoy.

Actually there is software that sends out a spider and verifies that a link is still valid. And if a link is dropped or a page name has changed the software automatically sends email to the party asking them where the new link now resides.

It can also automatically add links for you should another web site request a link.

I use a version of this software, in my case called AutoLinksPro on my links page. It really does work, and it saves me hours of time, daily.

Great idea for the users (that's us). Lousy idea for the web master - creates a lot of research and work.

I'd like to see it, as I would no longer have to maintain a bunch of links locally.
