New flower gardens

   / New flower gardens #11
I'm doing raised beds in my vegetable garden, just with standard concrete blocks because the appearance isn't so important. A friend and I drove to the next city, where there's a plant that makes the blocks. I bought culls for $0.68 @. My friend was interested in looks, so he bought breakfront block culls in a nice brown shade for half price, but they were still $1.80 @. That's the standard 8x8x16 blocks, but with a decorative finish on one side and colored. I bet they also make the stacking blocks and might have seconds of those. In the case of my standard blocks, there were obvious imperfections in many of them, but nothing that will matter much for my application. The seconds my friend bought looked perfect, but the color was apparently not exactly what it was supposed to be. He got enough to do his job and liked the color, so that didn't matter to him. I bet the same plant also makes the stacking blocks and has seconds. Worth looking into if you're going to use a lot of them.
