Tractor
Zetor 6745
Hi folks, I come from a Land Down Under - (as an aside - Down Under is a very famous song by a band called Men at Work should you wish to broaden your musical horizons). I'm the proud owner of a 1976 Czechoslovakian manufactured Zetor 6745 (named Ludmilla) which according to my girlfriend is a little bit large for a 2,300m2 block of land although it has done great work helping build our house here in Queenstown - we're on steep rocky hard ground. How did she get to be called Ludmilla you might ask. Ludmilla is a gorgeous Czech girl who used to deliver our mail - the day my Zetor arrived was the day Ludmilla told me she was heading back to the Czech Republic to introduce her Kiwi fiancé to her family. I couldn't really call my tractor Brian after that could I? Does anyone else have a relationship with their tractor that has gone as far as requiring it to be named and if so, how so?? I fear her image is going to appear in this post sideways - not sure how to rotate the image 90 degrees.

Welcome!

Well it looks sideways in the post but right side up when opened. Looks like a sturdy tractor. Are Czech tractors common Down Under? What tractors are most common.

And I'm already familiar with Men at Work; the songs were popular here when they came out.

Welcome to TBN. When I clicked the picture it appeared right side up, a tough looking tractor there.
I just refer to my tractors by brand, I would probably be in trouble with my wife if I named one after another female..especially if she's good looking. :)

In the South Island, I think John Deere would be the most popular. Not sure about the North Island. I grew up on a hill country farm and Dad campaigned a Ford 3000 2WD - not ideal on hill country but we survived!!

Never named my tractor, but i named my old gps after my wife. The unit was failing, i couldnt turn off the volume and was always announcing upcoming turns. When my wife asked me why i named the gps after her i told her because i cant turn off the noise, and its always telling me what to do.

She was not impressed.

also, one time while traveling thru Tennessee the GPS kept having me try to drive the wrong way on 1 way streets.......i told my wife that she was trying to kill me. She made me rename the GPS “Marie” after the character on Everyone Loves Raymond.

my new GPS is silent.........so has no name.
