Looking to Buy
Hello everyone. Have been looking awhile but finally decided to join up. Excited about learning as much as possible. With that said I will throw out my first couple of questions. First, I am looking at buying a small farm and using 3-5 acres to grow vegetables. The place I like has this acreage but is currently just grass covered pasture. So I will need to tear out the grass and prepare it for planting. So I am looking for suggestions on a couple of items, one being some ideas on tractor size and brand (not brand loyal although I grew up with JD and Case) and two what kind of implements will be needed to effectively convert pasture to farmland. Thanks

Welcome from central PA. I have a Kubota L3400 (35 hp) that I am very happy with. In my mind, a loader is a must. Perhaps a bottom plow and disk would be a good start to preparing your ground. Are there any small trees or brush to deal with? If so you may need a bush hog mower. Hope this helps.

Welcome from western PA! What sort of budget are you working with? Are you familiar with operating a tractor or turning wrenches?

Are you Cranberry Twp. Venango County?

Welcome to Christmas presents all year long!
I have Kubota L3400, loader, 5' Bush hog, Woods Back Hoe, Woods Box Blade, 6' Rear Blade,6' Rake and 3pt tow frame. You are just getting the "Locomotive" (Tractor) to start building your "Train" (Attachments"
Then comes Top & Tilt, LED lights, tow chains and every other thing that you see or dream of.

It's all Fun!

P.S. Check Ted's Everything Attachment Video's, that the closes "School" that you will come to for learning tractor implements

Yep, Im in the Butler County Cranberry. Looking forward to getting started as it has been awhile since I have been in the tractor seat. For you PA guys, especially western PA what are the good tractor dealers around the area? As I am not set on one particular brand, I want to make sure and have a good dealer for support.

I use Phil's Kubota in Columbiana Ohio...They have been nothing short of fantastic over the last 10 years...

My dad used to get his Deere's from Vernon-Dell he was happy with the dealer..

Town and Country (Big Knob road in New Sewickley) sells Mehindra's now...Very close to Cranberry.

Thanks for the info. Anyone have any info or thoughts on the various dealers in Butler or any close Kioti dealers? Thanks
