New Gator

Dealer delivered my new gator today. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif It's the revised HPX 4x4. They now come standard with rollbar and three point seatbelts. Ergonomics are changed, steering is improved, and starting is greatly improved for cold weather. I'll post some pics monday and give a more detailed explanation. Headed to Cincinnatti to a rodeo right now.

I heard that they were going to make some changes. The Gator is a good vehicle, I had a 6X4 but 3 weeks ago I bought 700 Polaris Ranger. The HPX was a major leap forward but with all the advancements that the RTV and Ranger have, Deere had to do something. Let us kow how it performs for you and post some pictures.

So far, I have really liked my Gator diesel. John Deere made some advances with the new ones. I did not want the rollbar on mine but I did like the new steering and the true MFWD with limited slip in the front. That really helps in a vehicle with limited travel. It will absolutely climb a tree and has great power. I think JD has addressed the cold starting problems associated with the earlier gasoline ones as well. According to my dealer the John Deere Gator offers among the best off road performance now due to the front differential. At the dealers' meeting in Florida, he said the JD was tops in all the comparison testing that was done, over a variety of terrain. I am pretty impressed with the Polaris from an off-roading perspective, but I bought my father a 500 HO ATV two years ago, and although it runs well, it has required a fair number of trips to the dealer also. did they do any improvements to the battery i have found that sense i put the extra battery on my hpx it runs better. i was thinkin about a polaris ranger but i just can't seem to part with my gator and i would never own a rtv they just got to many problems and they too heavy . the only thing i ever heard anyone say bad about a gator is it's cold natured !wow pull the choke! and it will start . i'm gonna take a trip to the J.D place tommorow they might have a new model i can check out plus i need some parts for my gator(maint. parts /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) gotta keepup the investment /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif have fun with your new hpx and i'll be waitin to see them pics.

Here are the pics. I'm extremely happy with this new Gator. They made each seat adjustable. Works great for my wife and kids. The 4wd is now push button on the dash. For me it wasn't a big deal but it was kind of hard for the kids to get in. The steering is great now. It's just like power steering. The front end suspension was redone and now there is absolutely no surging like before on the accelerator. Cold weather starting is a dream now. No problems at all there. The seatbelts and rollbar give me alot of peace of mind. Although the gator was very safe I'll share some pics another day of what can happen without seatbelts. Not pretty. I'll never have any vehicle again without seatbelts. Very nice unit and great improvements.
