JD 5200
Just got my new grapple last Friday from Palletforks.com and would like to say very pleased with the rugged construction. It is the smallest and lightest for the JD fit. It is set up for both JD sizes of quick connect and already had them on the 5200. I will set my 790 up for them also to do some light brush removal. I can see these are the best deal out there. Since the 790 already has the live hydraulic plug ins on the back it should be simple to just add 2 way valve to operate it. The 5200 has none so can anyone tell me if there is a power beyond plug or would a manual diverter valve work ok? If manual I would want it set up close to the joystick. Maybe even foot controlled would be nice.

I also purchased mine from pallet forks.com and found it to be an incredible bargain. One of the things I did was make a 3 point carryall out of the angle iron crate that it came in. it worked out really well.

there are a million ways to "skin this cat", but one thing you could do is just get a electric/hydraulic valve and a foot switch and reuse your curl/dump circuit on your present FEL valve, you would not need another valve at all. just position the grapple over the object to be picked up, press the foot switch or you could have an switch on the joystick shaft, then move the FEL joystick left to open the grapple jaws, and right to close them or vice versa. All you have to do is just place the diverter in line with the lines leaving the existing FEL control valve so that the non energized fluid path continues to feed your FEL curl/dump cylinders, and the energized diverter valve ports feed your new set of connectors out to your grapple.

Getting ready to plumb in the new grapple on the 5200. Can anyone tell me if the lines etc are NPT? Can't wait to use this to clean up all the limbs on the ground after the ice storm!
