I purchased a grapple at an auction with skid steer style mounting connection. I have several such attachments and never had a problem, like this one.
When hooking grapple bucket to loader there is about an inch space between the bucket lower bracket and the tractor mounting plate. I measured the distance between the upper and lower brackets on other attachments and then on the new grapple, the brackets on the new grapple seem to be about an inch closer together than on the other attachments. As a result the pins will not slide into place. This must be made in China, right? Do i have to cut off the lower brackets and lower them? Seems to be a lot of work. Any suggestions, Has this happened before to you? Thanks, Craig

When presented with lemons, make lemonade. Doesn't seem like much work for a slitting wheel on an angel grinder and some 7018 in a DC stick welder.

I bought quick attach pallet forks at auction several years ago. They fit my tractor as expected. Recently, I traded tractors and they did not fit my new one. They fit fine after I slotted the holes at the bottom of the quick attach plate so the pins could go through.

Oh that's interesting. Universal doesn't mean universal after all. Ha! Yes, I was thinking of making bigger slot for pins, but I am worried about the possible extra strain on the pins, I think they would be taking the brunt of the forces. I would think the bracket should do the heavy lighting and the pins should hold everything in place, but I am not an engineer. If I cut off the two lower brackets can I buy new ones to weld back on? I am not sure what condition the old ones would be in after I got through cutting them off. Craig

A couple of pictures would be worth a lot.

I only knew of the smaller SS configuration, much smaller, but this slight difference is a new one on me. The ONLY other differences in SS attachment are the locking holes in the bottom and most have an extra set of holes or slits for a system I have never actually seen.

I have welded up enough SS attachment plates. Maybe someone welded the side plates into the frame rather than just on the outside. That could give you 1/2 an inch less on each side.

I think those closer holes are for the "mini" skidsteers.

The very inside holes are for the old non standard New Holland quick attach. The large slot fits most other SS QA.

Hope you didn't pay over retail for it like I see folks doing at local auctions. Every time I watch and auction I walk away scratching my head.
