1989 Ford 1920
Hi, I am totally new to tractors. Just got a 1989 Ford Model 1920 Saturday to clean up woods and overgrowth. Didn't know it was dogged/pinned and think that's how I popped a line. Brother helped me replace it and said: "Top it off" (hydraulic fluid).

The dipstick doesn't give a lot of detail but I most likely OVER-FILLED it. Dipstick --> DipStick 2.JPGDipStick 2.JPG
Would that cause stuttered movement?
Former owner said to change the fluid and filter. HOWEVER, it was FINE UNTIL I filled it. With like FOUR GALLONS expecting to "top it off" mistakenly.
video of the stuttered action:

1. IS THERE A DRAIN PLUG?
2. Would over-filling cause this? FYI it also started "chugging" a bit as I drove.
3. Other theories?

Too much oil or not enough oil would cause this. There has to be a fill mark somewhere.
Just guessing you should be somewhere in the middle of the flat area at the bottom of the stick.
Also if the tractor is new to you.... yes drain it completely, fill with new correct fluid and a filter.

Somebody in the Ford tractor forum should know where to drain it from.
Would HIGHLY recommend getting a service/repair manual for the tractor.
