Been checking this site for a while and finally decided to join in the fun. Just about to get a new JD CUT, and these forums have helped me decide which one. I grew up on a Farmall cub, H, and then a JD model M. Haven't had a tractor since, and barely driven any, but I recently bought a nice ten acre piece of land-6.5 flat meadow, 3.5 acre of woods (+-). I need a tractor and the budget is somewhat limited. I started out thinking Kubota 3400, or JD 3520 or 3720, but life cut my dream down to sizehttp://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif and I started thinking the 3038E would be the ticket, but I really like the solid feel of the 3005, and even that is almost too much money when I add the heavy bucket, the tiller, and the mowing deck(new tiller maybe-used mowing deck). With the loader (standard bucket) and ballast box, the local dealer wants 15,665. I also want the R4 tires since I'll be doing work in the "lawn/yard " area and don't want to chew it up too bad. It'll be 3 weeks to get it. Most people I've talked to love the orange tractors, but I'm partial to green...

Welcome to TBN. The deciding which machine to buy will drive you crazy if you let it. I was thankful for this forum to learn about the tractors and their pitfalls and options. It helped me on my purchases. Have fun you don't buy a new tractor very often.

Oh, I am having fun, just signed today, she'll be delivered next week. It really felt good to know a few things about the tractor based on real world experience when I went to do the deal. I knew what I wanted, but I also knew what questions to ask and more importantly-what I didn't need. Not that the dealer was trying to sell me extra stuff, he wasn't. I did see a picture on a previous post of Mudfarmer running a splitter off the back of his 3005 off the rear hydraulics, but the one I'm buying doesn't have that, unless you get the "power beyond " set up. So I guess I'll look into that when the time comes. Now I'm wondering about the forks I got to go with it, and wondering if I should get fixed instead of floaters, but I kind of think I want the option of getting them close together if needs be. I'll post pix when they bring the tractor.

Welcome.....I'm in New Hampshire...close to White River Jct Vt. Good luck with your new rig....I couldn't survive without my Orange 4310...between pushing snow and managing roads and paddocks and rding arenas on our horse farm.

If you are looking for clamp on forks....I build them as a side business.....the best built ones available at the lowest prices. I built the forst set for personal use and they worked out so well I have sold over 5o sets in NH, Vt and Maine.
