Hello to all TBN users!

I have been a small tractor owner for years and I want to announce now that I am now an online implement dealer. The focus of my website , subcompacttractorworld.com, says it all. I am aiming to satisfy the implements and attachment needs of subcompact and small compact tractor owners. My web store is presently open for viewing and I may even be able to accept orders on a limited basis. May 5th we are set to open for good and I welcome all TBN viewers. Presently, I am a small business, but I am will be constantly adding products.

I decided to lead off with two products that have gotten a lot of attention on various TBN forums. The first one is the flail mower. I have been a member of TBN under a different name and I can hardly think of any other implement that has got quite as much focused attention as the flail mower. I am happily offering the BEFCO line of H40 flail mowers that are sized to the PTO HP ratings of most subcompact tractors. These flail mowers operate at PTO ratings as low as 16 HP. This line of mowers has 3 sizes, 4, 5 and 6 feet wide and has 5 different cutting blade styles ranging from fine cutting straight blades to heavy hitting hammer blades along with the standard "Y" blade, a multipurpose paddle blade and the highly specialized "T" blade.

Secondly, we are also offering ANBO grapples in 3 different configurations. These are all extremely heavy duty, solidly built units and as an opening incentive, we are offering the 3rd function kit at a price that just covers our basic costs.

Lastly, we are also offering some bulk discounts for anyone buying 2 or more items.

If anyone is interested in purchasing before May 5th, I will glad to work with you, but you probably need to get in touch with me through the TBN private messaging system as right now my inbox is still being set up (one of the last parts to set up on a web store).

We look forward to working with you in the very near future at subcompacttractorworld.com!

Thank You Buggs67. Like said in my initial post, the site should be expanding with new products and new web content. We are working now on getting some videos, images and more items. Again, thanks for your interest

Greetings -

I am a subcompact (SCUT) owner for the past year. Absolutely perfect size tractor for me, and a lot of others feel the same.

It appears you want to specialize on this size, as there are a number of online implement dealers these days, offering huge product lines. Is that your intent?

If so, I am in the market for a 3 point tiller and would be interested in why you selected Howse & Befco to go to market with.

Thank you.

DeereMann,

You are right, there are a lot of implement dealers out there, but as an owner of a SCUT myself, I know that sometimes the implement you want is not always in your HP zone. This is especially true with SCUT PTO's as they are typically in the 15-20 HP range that implement you want just won't work on your tractor or will only work minimally. So yes, while I have access to a large number of implements including ones that are sized far larger than your tractor or mine, my intent is to focus on the area that appears least-well served by the market as a whole.

As for Howse and BEFCO, these two companies have a large selection of items in the small tractor range and yes, if you are interested in a tiller, I will certainly make several available. Right now I only appear to be offering one as I am just setting up shop and these things take time. I do have a PDF file attached with information about tilling, but if you are interested, let me know about aspects such as total width, forward or reverse tilling, and offset options. I think I have access to about 5 different tillers in our PTO HP range. Additionally, BEFCO and Howse are both well established companies with reputations for being very durable machines.

Let me know and I will make arrangements for a tiller, or any other item, that you may wish for your tractor.

I look forward to working with you

DeereMann,

I just updated my website with 6 more tillers. They are all from BEFCO because BEFCO offers a lot of tillers in the low PTO HP range and tillers really demand a lot of power from your engine, perhaps more than any other implement. The main difference besides size is driveline protection. 3 are shear pin while the other 3 are slip clutch protected. I do have some information on my site about tillage in general and will have some more up shortly specifically regarding tillers.

I look forward to working with you

Thank you. I read your tillage information. My previous tiller was a Deere 42" hydraulic drive with reverse tine rotation. It tilled my garden great. I have read much about forward vs. reverse tine rotation. No doubt, reverse tine rotation produces powdery soil and does not 'push' the tractor. Claims against it are it is not suitable for breaking virgin ground or hard packed soil, but i have no plans to do that. So I guess reverse rotation is best, though forward is not 'bad' - just may take more than one pass. My new tractor is rated 25.4 hp overall, 18 hp PTO.

DeereMann,

I think you are right on with the 42 inch size tiller with your 18 PTO. I also have 18 PTO and while it could probably power the 48 inch model, tilling is not mowing, you need a lot more HP/torque to power that implement and I just think that the 18 PTO HP would power the 42 inch model better. I guess for you the only other decision would be forward vs. reverse tilling. I certainly can't find anything wrong with your thoughts about reverse tilling as it certainly does really break up the soil well. In my thoughts, about the only real advantage of forward tilling is that a forward tiller can help till in organic matter or fertilizers spread on the surface. My ground is dense clay so I constantly try to work in additional organic matter (especially leaves) to help loosen up the ground. I have also tried using In-Situ composting which is where you make a compost pile on a part of the garden you don't plan on using for 1 year. During that time, just pile on the compost and make sure that it has contact with the ground. Worms love it and after 1 year I was able to both harvest compost and had my clay soil virtually transformed into a dark, rich loam.

But back to your tiller, I think you are right on track. Best of luck.
