Just bought a new T6 harley rake for my JD4310. I've been patiently waiting to find one at a good price. Got this one for $5830 out the door. Does this sound like a fair price? Never used one but have been told by many people that I won't believe how well it works.

The price is excellent. I paid $6k for mine plus a trade in of my old actually Woods(actually Harley). I am retired but now put in lawns. I bought my first rake in 98. The new ones have much better wheel bearing system. I welded a strip of metal to protect the geer/chain cover as this is about the only week point. The cover can catch on things(trees) and peel back. There is a leaarning curve for using it. Go to an open field and play with it adjusting the depth of the bite of the drum to see the different effects it has on the finished results. You can clean up rocks and sticks on a surface. I like to windrow to the non drive side as it dumps the material more cleanly. Adjust the rear wheels so that the drum is level. On my tractor the extra weight of the drive mechanism caused it to dip to that side. Have fun.

HTWT gives excellent advice, and I just so happen to have a couple open fields for sacrificing to your tranining needs.:D

I was trying to get the rental yard here to purchase another Harley unit (rock picker like their rake) but I guess they didn't feel like it would be profitable...so I'm stuck doing it with a landscape rake and the ole' back.

I have been looking into Harley Rakes vs. the Auto Rake (Rockhound). I would have to purchase a Skid Steer Carrier for the loader (CUT) for the Rockhound + plumb the lines for the hydralics to the front. Already have the 3rd valve to the rear for attachments.

What's the advantages of either?

Looks like a Harley you still need to pick up the windrows of debris and dump them vs the Auto you just dump. I know the Rockhound also comes in a 3pt but doesn't seem to be as efficient.

Your thoughts???

Harley rakes are great and are all you need but with a front loader on your tractor not much pickin up .You got a great deal i paid 6250.00 for mine last year and i thought i got a good deal.Ifixed a yard this year it was rocky . I really just windrow the rocks and pushed them in a hole . Real time savers .As long as you take care of the rake it will take care of you. Also either at harley or glenmac you can get a dvd to show how it and the skidsteer rake runs.At wood equipment they have a short video on the t 6 tractor rake.My tractor a TC55DA NH and my T6 harley rake takes the place of a layborer. Enjoy! Real clean jobs even in wet soil.
