Mainly depends on your uses. For me those are both "borderline" machines... A 50HP would be too large to fit where I need it to, or too small to power the implements I need powered in the places they need to go. A 60 would likely power the larger implements the places I need them to go, but there's no way it could fulfill the small tasks I have. For my uses a 40 and a 80 are the ideal combination of machines. One day as I age I may like a small 30HP unit to tend to small tasks, but I doubt it.

Best bet is create a list of chores you need the machine to fulfill and purchase accordingly.

As others have said, we need to know what you are going to do with the tractor before we can help guide you.

The 4520 is to really comparable to a MX5100. A L5740 or L6060 would be comparable to the 4520. Does the 4520 have a loader and backhoe?

These are both compact tractors similar in size to yours.

I was cutting my size requirements close with what I have. Anything any larger wouldn't have fit. Tight space requirements was also why HST was a requirement for me. I didn't look at those models specifically, but all the 50s and 60s I've had under me have measured larger, even if only slightly. Turns out there are a couple places I can't get my 4035 without taking out a couple trees I'd rather leave, so even slightly larger is too large...

The 4520 is more of a deluxe/ premuim tractor than the MX5100. They are both nice tractors. If you can live with out all the fancy features the MX5100 may be the way to go. I think you should look at a Grand L Kubota. It is in the same class of tractors as the 4520.
