Welcome. You are in the right place. The people on this forum are awesome with their advice. They have saved my bacon several times.
^^^^ Me too. As a first time tractor owner I've lost count how many times this forum has saved me time, money or even physical danger. Members will help you after you have a problem or question of course. But keep reading and learning and you will be surprised how many little things you'll spot
before they become big problems. (I "lurked" here for years before joining.)
A few specific examples from recent memory:
1.) The debate about where/when/how often to use 4wd will rage on forever. But one thing everyone agrees: don't do it on pavement. So I read that and stopped driving 4wd on pavement before (thankfully) shredding my front differential.
2.) I was thinking of attaching some goodies to the ROPS. Then I learned that if you drill into the ROPS, you've compromised a specifically engineered safety device -- sorta like punching a hole in the seat belt -- and many dealers will dock hundreds of $ on trade in (if I ever do that) because they have to replace the ROPS. Use square U-bolts instead.
3.) When back-dragging your FEL bucket to smooth dirt, keep the angle shallow or you risk bending the curl cylinder rods. I did it "wrong" dozens of times and basically got lucky, but now I know. Disaster averted.
And the list goes on. Everything I just mentioned probably seems stupidly obvious to experienced owners/operators, but is totally unknown to newbies.
