Price Check New Holland 1630 Price?

Found a 1997 New Holland 1630, 4x4, Hydro with a 7308 FEL for $12,000. It has 770 hours, a few scratches on it and turf tires.

Is this a good price and will I need to spend $$ to get Ag tires? (We've got 6 acres of horse pasture to mow, a 1200 ft. driveway to plow, lots of manure, and a woods to clear paths, clean up?)

Sounds like a good price to me... I got a '98 1630 with 280 hours and the same features, for 14k last year. I thought I wanted AG tires (also plowing driveway) and hesitated when I first saw this one with Turf tires--but I bought a set of chains for the rear wheels and find it does just fine. For snow plowing I use a back blade, going backwards mostly, as well as the loader for snow banks; and it is fine in the woods as well--and it's much easier on the lawn too when I do go across it. So I'm actually quite happy with the turf tires--but changing them would be expensive I think, if you really need AG you'd be better off finding one that already has them.

(Note: Unless it's been garaged, you will probably need to replace the steering tilt cylinder soon--mine went within 2 week of getting it, fortunately I bought it from a dealer and he gave me the $80 part for free.) there are lots of threads on that subject in the forum.

Thanks for the reply. I too thoutht it was a fair price so I bought it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

After talking with my neighbor who farms and knows what stuff I will get it to, I talked to the dealer I bought the tractor from and asked him to put R4 tires on it. He was good to me and gave me the wheels, the tires and loaded them for me at cost! He delivered it on Thursday and I put an hour on it that night /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif!

Thanks for the advice on the tilt wheel. I will look have to look that up later....I got to get to the barn before the wife does /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
