When I replaced my turfs with the 13.6 AG tires in May, I did not bother with the front tires. Now I realize whoever had this tractor put different rims on the front. The front tires are standard (albiet bald) car tires, 195/65/15. According to the manual, the fronts were 5.50-16. So, money is tight for now, can I simply put 195/65/15, studded winter tires on the existing rims and get a rear blower and blow snow in 2WD?

I live in PEI, so we get lots of snow, so I was hoping the AG tires I recently put on (13.4x24) and the fronts replaced with good winter tires that are studded will allow me to do this?

Hoping to hear from SoundGuy on this one

Thanks

Hey SoundGuy is bright but he doesn't live where there is any snow!!! I'm sure he can answer the tire question, but as faras using a blower on a 2WD tractor I'm not sure how much experience he has. First of all I say you will need rear chains with 2WD. Secondly you can run any tires on the front that will fit although they may not all steer as well.

LOL, true enough. The existing tires are very bald and the tractor handled quite well in the snow in 2WD, no blower and turf tires!!

I'll wait and see until someone from Maine chimes in :)

I have a 1620 with turf tires that was basically useless in the snow. A set of tire on the back turned it into a real tank! Nothing would slow it down and I could drive through 12 to 14" snow with no effort, pulling 40 ft long logs.

Although mine is 4wd, I would not see a need for chains on the front of a 2wd.

A little confused with your post, if I understand, you put chains on the back of your turf tires right?

I have almost new AG's on the back, and I just purchased a very agressive thread car tire for the front, 205/70/15, I believe, and the tread is about 3/8 raised. So hopefully in 2WD I will be fine. 14" of snow is around 30cms in metric, which is about what we get in a given storm, although 20" can occur

Chains for the rear and studded car tires on the front would do you nicely.:D
