the Kubota manual says max length for sickle bar is 60 inches, how stringent is that? I bought a used New Holland 450 sicklebar mower last weekend, got it home and came here to check on mounting details. Found out people have had diffs with the mount.
Can anyone help me with the weight of this mower and if I have to make mods to the TPH to get it onboard?
Any comments what will be prob in using 7ft sickle bar?
I hope someone can tell me what the weight of the 450 is, since at the point of attachment, Kubota says max 350lb.

thanks

Hello Ian - and Welcome to TBN !

I now have a New Holland 451 - I had an older one before that - a 450 I think. The 450 had a wooden (ash) pitman arm and raised with a single-acting hydraulic cylinder so it needed a remote valve. The 450 was 7' and I'd estimate between 250 and 300 pounds. I think the reason Kubota says 60" is that if the cutter bar catches on something while rolling along you can put huge leverage on the 3pt hitch. Maybe damage something. But if you are careful it may be ok.

The New Holland 451 was a major redesign and there are many more of these around. The 451 uses the 3pt linkage to lift the bar - the hitch dimensions need to be fully category 1 as supplied on early U.S. tractors (Ford, Case, MF) the lift rods on Kubota Grand L's interfere with the 451's actuator frame - the cure is home-made extender plates to move the top link attachment point away from the tractor a couple inches.

Hope this is useful - take care, Dick B

I see that the 7610 is 24hp. I had a 254 Foton and tried using my CIH 1100 3pt sickle mower with a 9' bar (I now use with my 40hp Foton), and it was too much for the 25hp. 7' would have worked fine. Depending on the strength of the 3pt, which Kubota should be strong enough, a 7foot' sickle mower at 24hp should be no problem - I wouldn't hesitate.
