I need to replace the telescoping drive shaft on this rake. The one i have started slipping when under load. My question is how do i remove the top part of the shaft from the gear box? is it possible to just remove it from the universal while its still on the rake or does it need to come out of the gear box? If you can get it without removing whole universal from gear box how would you all suggest to do it? I have taken universals apart off of vehicles using a puller and socket but not sure how to do it when still attached. and one last thing where is the pins on the universal are they internal as most i have done had snap rings on the outside. sorry for all the questions.

Snap rings are inboard of the yoke ears. The upper yoke is forged with the input shaft. Either take the cross apart where it is or tear the gearbox apart.
