New Holland 6640SL Quits immediately after starting

I have a '97 NH 6640SL, the tractor will crank fine then immediately quits. Usually it will restart and run if you push the throttle wide open until it starts, then idle it back down. Once it refused to start and required ether to get going. I have checked the fuel filter and sediment bowl - everything clean. I installed a new fuel stop solenoid in the top of the fuel pump - didn't help. So I am at a loss - any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is generally a screen or strainer in the tank bottom that can clog up and limit fuel delivery.

Disconnect the fuel line between the tank and the filter and see if you have adequate fuel flow. If it dribbles or is intermittent, make sure the tank vent is clear( usually a hole in the fuel cap) and the there is no debris in the tank strainer. Some engines use a lift pump to suck fuel from the tank and deliver it to the injector pump. These have an internal screen and if you have a lift pump, that screen could be clogged. Some injector pumps have a screen on the inlet line. If yours has one, check that.

You can't tell if a fuel filter is clogged by looking at it. When is the last time you changed it?

To add to what Jerry said, if none of that comes up with an answer, also take the line off from the filter to the injection pump or after the lift pump to check fuel flow. Later models used an electric lift pump integrated into the filter housing. The lift pump could be faulty. Check wiring to the pump and for possible blown fuse.
Also could just be an obstruction after the filter if filter is not the cause.
