hello, i have question about a issue with hydraulics on a New
Holland 8160. what happens is the lift arms (rear) the remote valves and the loader will stop working intermittently.
The pump which supplies these components is a piston pump, which is charged by a separate charge pump.
Now back to the problem, it will work flawlessly initially when first using it, if you shut it off for 1 min to about 15 min IT WILL NOT WORK.
Now after the tractor has not been used for more than an hour it will work fine as if nothing is wrong.
I found that if you unscrew the intake filter it will release some vacuum that had built up in the intake chamber, when this is relieved everything will work.
So from what i figured out is that when that when the vacuum pressure is relieved on the intake section of the pump (completely relieved in 30 minutes to hour) it allows the charge pump to build pressure and begin pumping fluid to the piston pump which supplies the hydraulic components i mentioned above.
One other thing is that there is a separate pump that is for the steering and transmission which gets its INTAKE FLUID from the same place as the Charge pump , yet the steering and transmission work fine when the the other components do not.
so my question is why is that when i release that intake vacuum everything will start working again, is it worn pump that will do this?
i replaced the filters.
also checked the pumps for damage and wear, the charge pump looks marginal but i had it inspected by a shop and they said it is good.
What do you all think? do you know anyone else who had a problem like this?
