I love the loader, do you have the grapple?

No, it has the capaability to add one but I use a bale spear to handle round bales.

I have one on a 4020 CNH. I don't like the fancy plastic covers on the lift arms cross piece that covers the hydraulic hoses. That is a good place to carry a tree or other long items pinched in place by the top of the bucket but it would be an expensive plastic cover replacement if I tried it on this loader.
There also seems to be a slop point in the bucket hydraulics where there is no positive control with the stick.
Other than that, it is fine.

What I'm wondering is what it takes to add the third hydraulic function for a grapple? Is it just a matter of adding a electric valve in the main valve body mounted on the cross tube?

The bracket is already there on the cross arm. The control lines may be also. I don't have a 3rd function hooked up so haven't really looked.
I like the side hydraulic outlets on the tractor that feeds the big distribution block but don't particularly like the location of the block. I haven't
caught it in a tree yet. The exhaust pipe comes up between the loader frame and the tractor at that point so there isn't room inside.

If you look at the joystick, you'll see a button on the front face. That controls the third function for a grapple. I believe the 3rd function control valve is basic to the 820TL loader but I'm not sure.

I believe the instructions for the connecting of the hydraulics for this are provided with the instructions for the grapple attachment.

Yeah, it's added there by rerouting the existing lines thru an electric valve. Then it's controlled by the button on the joystick. The down side to this is you CANNOT control bucket tip and the grapple at the same time, it's one or the other depending on depressing the button. the plus side is it requires minimal hydraulic plumbing. You'll have to add the electronics and end up with an electrical connection at the hose connections to allow the loader to be removed. I can't help you with a cost but any dealer could quote that for you.
