New Holland BC5070 baler capacity question

My son-in-law and his Dad are considering upgrading their small square hay baler from an older (wore out) New Holland to a new(er) BC5070. Can the BC5070 digest doubled 9 foot windrows the same as their New Holland Round baler. They would like to operate both balers at the same time in the same field.

Using a Kuhn Accumulator and Grabber, they baled and sold 5000 small square bales last year for premium price due to drought. This year rain has pushed the price up as well.

You won't find a 14"x18" square baler with more capacity then a BC5070, period. No doubt it will eat the same windrows a round baler will. Maybe at a lesser speed, but it will handle the volume. What model are they replacing?

I believe it is a very well worn NH 273. They could have made and sold more square bales last year but too many breakdowns. They were getting $7 per /50-60# bale due to dry summer here then. Their fields are in a valley and was getting moisture when no one else did.

When they were telling me what they wanted to do, I could not believe a small square baler had that capacity. Times have changed. My old baler that I used to have (JD 14T) would often struggle with 7 foot windrows of first cutting.

I agree I have seen some 570's out run a round baler in the same field which these or the same thing. my grand father baled over 40000 bales a year for about 20 years with the one we had and when I got it baled about 5000 a year for a few year till it was completely wore out. I know they will make a tighter and heavier bale than any jd small square baler
