New Holland T1520
Was working on a bid out of my usual area and drove by a New Holland dealer, so I decided to stop in since I had some extra time to kill. I went to the brochures, since I could use some more bathroom reading material and I'm also looking for some new implements. I was puzzled as to why there weren't any brochures there for any compact tractors. I then found a salesman and asked if they were still making my tractor (t1520) and was told that a rep had clued him in somewhat that New Holland is getting out of the compact tractor market and focusing more on large tractors and combines because that's where the money is right now. Plus, I would guess competition between all the different brands of compact tractors is pretty fierce. I was also quite surprised the salesman said that he would reccomend buying a John Deere or Kubota (Honest guy!) It looks like I figured out why New Holland just doesn't care about the problems I have been having with my new tractor. I have always been a big fan of Ford/New Holland, but will be changing colors as soon as I can. Sad to see them go :-(

Yes, fierce competition builds better products and fewer valid competitors is bad news for consumers.

It's a shame, but I don't think NH has ever been real strong in the compact tractor business.
I see a number of Kubotas and Deeres...just never saw a lot of NH compacts, although the Boomer series were popular several years ago.

They never caught on around here either. My nearest neighbor has one, but everyone else on our road has a Kubota or John Deere; can't even remember ever seeing another NH CUT in this area.

My dealer was originally a Ford then NH and now has NH and Kubota with more sales being in the Kubota line, but the cost of one of the big NH will more than make up for selling a few more Kubota SCUT/CUT and UT.

Then why did NH sign on with LS Tractor to make the new compacts?? They are no longer built by Shibuara.

The New Holland Boomer 2000 and 3000 series compacts are still strong in the Western New York and Pennsylvania area and they are good quality tractors. The Boomer 3000 and 4000 series arguably has the best cab offering in the compact market, which even the JD and Kubota dealers in my area had agreed with when I was pricing out their models. However, the T1520 is the economy class tractor of the Boomer 2035 and should be a decent tractor; this is a direct ship Shibuhara tractor with New Holland paint and logos. Unfortunately, T1510, T1520, Boomer 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000 series are not made anymore. However, my dealer is still getting in the T1530, which the very strong 45HP econo class series; people seem to love these tractors and keep buying them.

When I spoke to my NH dealer about the new NH Boomer compacts, he just said the quality and refinement is not there with the new LS tractor versions. NH new management (another shake up among the executive ranks) had a bright idea to go the way Bobcat did with Kioti and signed agreement with LS to build the new compact tractors for the next couple of years. So these less than savvy NH executives are having LS make only the mid-range Rio series tractors for their dealers to sell and their dealers really cannot compete; the dealer no longer have a subcompact or larger cab size tractor to sell. So some NH dealers are now ordering less compacts to sell or selling no compacts (focused more on the larger Ag Tractors) or have to take on another tractor line to stay in business/compete. My dealer was always a pure NH dealer, but now NH has forced him to take on the Mahindra tractor line.

Does NH make compacts? Yes - the Boomer 30, 40, 50. However, you are better off to buy the LS Rio R3039, R4041 or R4047. The LS version is cheaper and comes with two pair of rear remotes as a standard option. Due to the way these NH new executives are acting or demonstrating their lack of experience/knowledge in the compact market, there is no wonder why a NH dealer would tell you to go with a JD or Kubota compact tractor.

Yes, they are. They will be both a NH and Mahindra dealer now. They are waiting for the Mahindra tractors to come in.

I have a T1510, that replaced my TZ25. I love it. Sad to see NH do what they are doing....... I know you know what I mean......

Our dealer is #1 in my book.

... that New Holland is getting out of the compact tractor market ...
Interesting. I guess that puts NH off my list of potential first tractors if I buy new. Maybe even if I go used, not sure about parts if they don't carry the smaller line any more. Too bad too. They are the closest dealer to the property we are buying, only about 8 miles. Their site says they also sell Kubotas. I wonder if they will pick up Kioti or Bob Cat for another line of CUTs.
