2006 New Holland TC40
I have a 2006 TC40. I cannot figure out why these things do not come with skid plates. First month I used it, a branch snagged one of the wires from under the tractor's bottom - tractor would not start.

THis weekend the front and rear axles sunk in the dirt, the tractor led on its belly on the mud - the return feed on the hydralic hose came right off - emptying all the fluid.

Last month a branch i ran over, rose up found its way to the throttle assembly and bent it. The tractor started reving at over 2000 rpm.

Does anyone else have similar problems? The tractor has about 150 hours total use.

Most new tractors have parts that are going to be knocked off and broken if you do not watch what you are doing. If you drive thru areas where there are a lot of sticks you need to go slow and if you see a stick up ahead that looks like it wants to jump up and bite you then you drive around it.

My TN has a lot of hoses and wires on the bottom side of it and I am constantly clearing thick heavy brush and so far I have only popped one wire connector off. I drive slow and like riding a motorcycle you look at everything as the enemy and operate accordingly. Some times there is nothing you can do but usually there is.

What were you doing to bury your tractor to the axle and still drive it?

Sounds like you and your uses are tough enough to require a set of lower body protection plates.

The tractor is working in south florida. I had a 2.5 acre cleared and the vegetation mulched. However there are lots of broken trees that were buried instead of being mulched. Now they are popping up and creating the problems.
Is there a ready made lower body protection for these tractors or does one have to be fabricated from scratch?
Incidentally the reason for the entire project was the $5000 property tax bill for the 2.5 acre of swamplike lowland. Making it into a nursery is supposed to give an agriculture exemption - lowering the taxes.

I do not know of any kit you can buy for a protection plate but if you have a decent machine shop near by I would ask them about it. Show them your main concerns and have them rig something up. Your NH dealer might be able to help you with this also.

My TN 70A has a skid plate under the fuel tank.
