New holland manual

hi , i just bought a use New Holland TC40.I would like to know where i can get a owners manual for it. I found a place on line that has a parts brakedown list. looking for a owners manual. thanks lew::thumbsup:

On NH's site you can input your model and find all the manuals...not exactly the cheapest place, but it will give you a part number or other info that you can use to search elsewhere

Choose Items

On the left side input your model number in the appropriate box and click search

the Owners Manual is

thanks, What does HST mean ? how does that work ?

Not sure where you saw that but....

HST should mean Hydrostatic Transmission.....if in regards to drive / powertrain


i think....that is what I recognize it to be...I am sure someone will correct me if there is a different meaning out there

it means you have a foot pedal to move forward and the farther down you push, the faster you go

same with reverse...just a pedal....no clutch and or shifting (other than hi to low range)

Is yours the DA model? I have an extra manual from when I had my TC40DA. If this would work for you let me know.

:welcome: lew603 to TBN and the New Holland forum. HST stands for HydroStatic Transmission. If you have a TC40, yours is a gear tractor and not HST. TCowner's offer is very generous, but much of what is in his manual would not apply to your tractor. I would suggest buying the manual from New Holland's website or look for one on eBay. Sometimes the manuals on eBay can save you 50%, but you have to be careful and get one that matches your tractor. Yooper1 has done you a great favor of linking you to the site. Just put in your model on the left of the page and search. Your manual with the proper part number will pop right up. You don't need to fill in all the blanks.

I congratulate you for buying a TC40 and wanting a manual. So many times, people don't read their manuals and misplace or throw them away. In my opinion, a manual is a very important part of a tractor and tractor ownership.

If there is a specific question you need answered while waiting for your manual, feel free to ask here. There are a lot of generous folks here who want to help you.

hi, thanks for the information. New to the tractor world. I just bought it and the man show me a leaver on the right hand side that has a button on it that you can push to put the engine or transmission or something in like a overdrive call it hard shift something ? It does has hydrostatic , and 4x4 ,2004 or 2005 . I am not sure what he ment , that is why i wanted a manual. Thanks for help, lew

The switch is the rabbit/turtle switch that is like an electronic range shift. You have a range lever for hi-neutral-low range on the left fender. The rabbit turtle gives you another shift. If you use it a bit, you'll love having it for the convenience. It's one of my favorite features (maybe my most favorite) on my tractor.

EDIT: Oh yes, if your tractor is HST, then the manual TCowner has is perfect for you.

thanks for the informantion ,Sounds neat . Does that mean i have a tc40 da ? what is the difference between the models tc40 and tc40 da. where do i find what i have ,is there a id plate somewhere ? thanks again lew
