I have made the decision to purchase a tractor and have narrow the possibilities to the following models:

New Holland T1510 with Manual transmission $13,500
John Deere 3032E $16,500

Both have front end loaders. I was wondering if the manual transmission would be OK, if I would be using the front loader a lot. Is it more or less apt to have mechanical problems that the hydrostatic transmission?

Applications: grading driveway, hauling gravel and dirt, eventually I would like to get a backhoe as well, may purchase other implements also in the future.

Any guidance, would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Garry

That's a pretty even match of tractors, my opinion for sure an apples to apples comparison.

As far as hydro versus shifting, for what you are saying your uses I say hydro or if in a gear tranny a powershift all the way. I wouldn't even consider the clutching. I just made the switch to a hydro and it is night and day. I didn't realize how much operator fatigue you got from constantly clutching and grabbing for gears.

The 3032e will not accept a backhoe, from what the dealer told me...

Yep, looking at the John Deere site no hoe listed compatible with the 3032.

How much backhoe work do you anticipate? When you can rent a mini excavator for $150 a day it would take quite a bit to justify the cost of the hoe. A mini ex is a whole lot more productive too since it's easier to manuver.

I have a T1510 Hydro... and love it. My opinion, which isn't even worth 2 cents, Hydro would be easier for loader work....

Woods is currently working on a backhoe with subfame and hydraulics for the 3E Series.

Another 2 cents. My TC45 is a hydro and after using for around 5 years, I would never go back to shifting. I had the back hoe installed at the dealer before delivery. A little expensive, once my check book got over the pain, it was a very good decision. I have found so many uses for the back hoe its used almost as much as the FEL. I also got a full hydro gannon, that almost never gets used. It Has not been on the tractor for almost 4 years.

3 Attachments "made for the back hoe" ( That term is used very loosely.) 1 a simple flat plate that bolts across the teeth, Pickle Fork trencher and Keyholes for "T" hooks.

I have a gear tractor and I love it. However, if I had one complaint with it, well, let me say it this way....I am tired of the gear.

I would love to have a 3032e. Or, a 2520.

In your comparison that is where the Deere wins out...it's hydro.

And, it's Green.....You just can't go wrong with that combo.!!:D:thumbsup:

There's that BleedGreen poster again...keeping you up to date with Deere products.

That news is just one line but, wow, I think Deere is doing the right thing here. Or should I say Woods.

That would make the 3032e tractor something to be compared to. It would add a great option to a very basic tractor.

Thanks for posting BleedGreen.

Now, How long before we hear from Deere on this.?? Months or years.?? Or do they know.??:confused2::D

i hate foot clutches. it gets to a point were ya feel like your foot has been chopped off. from pressing it in so many times.

any tractor i get from now on. will have a "shuttle shift" option. to make it an easy push button and flip of a lever to go from forward to reverse. along with an easy button to push in to change gears. and if possible a button on FEL joystick so i can dump the clutch and send full power to the FEL.

the construction 555c TLB (tractor loader backhoe) has me very spoiled over the older allis chalmers CA with a foot clutch.

foot clutch gear box just makes for some very jerky movements and it does take a big toll on your body.

=============
backhoe worth while.

use it to dig up some compacted dirt area, and toss it into a bigger pile. to make it quicker work with FEL to get heeping fulls of dirt. to move the dirt to other places on property.

pulling out tree root bulbs.

curling the backhoe bucket around a tree i have cut down or tore out. and carrying it off, vs getting out and using chains.

**TOP USE** getting my rear un-stuck way to many times.

compacting dirt were i'am not able to drive tractor over to compact it.

getting some larger dimensional boards say 2x10 and some scrap pieces of lumber, and bolting them across teeth of backhoe bucket. to create a large leveler blade. to level out some dirt. that the FEL and tires on tractor would not be able to do.

loading some stuff into back of pickup truck. that the FEL could not do. due to FEL and front of tractor end up so close that it would end up hitting side of truck. when FEL is lifted up almost all the way to get clearance height of truck bed.

use it as counter balance when getting on slopes that i shouldn't be on in the first place. and lowering and swing the backhoe to upper side. to keep tractor from rolling over. along with using stabilizer on downhill side. as last ditch effort in catching tractor in case it begins to tip over (thankfully haven't tested the stabilizer out for this)

using the stabilizers of backhoe. to pick rear end of tractor up. so it is easier to crawl up under tractor (ok not the safest thing to do, but i still do it)

counter weight, when moving heavy amounts of material in the FEL
