I just got back from round baler hunting with my dad and once again our New Holland dealer floored us with a price on this.

Originally went there looking at the BR7050, but they didn't have one in stock. However, he has two 450's in stock.

We have right now for a round baler, an old Hesston 5530 manual everything basically. So it would be a huge/nice upgrade to go to auto tie, etc. We would like to stay around the 4x4 range because of the ranch we sell our bales to moves them by hand mostly or with a little mini-excavator. (Don't ask... it's an odd set up. Guy raises bison.)

We were quoted in $16,200 for a twine wrap, auto tie with all the gizmos except net wrap. If we wanted to go to net wrap down the road, the dealer said they could install it. But right now, twine is fine.

We bale roughly 300 bales a year of mixed grass. We feed out 150 for ourselves, sell the rest at either auction or locally.

Power wise, we have the tractors to run it. Probably our NH Boomer 2420 @ 62Hp would be the best bet in my opinion, that way my dad can bale and I can grab them with the TN60A we have with a FEL. I think our old 806 we use for cutting would be... a little too much.

Thoughts on the 450's? Will it last 10+ years, with *very* good up keep? (We take everything into the shop once a year, whether it needs it or not.) Will it bale 700-800 a year if we get more property? Or should I go back to looking for a used BR7050 or such?

What's really the difference between the BR series and the 450?

The price is only good for the next day or two, probably going to jump on it today unless someone says it's terrible.

Too late... already bought it.

Going out of town for work next week. Going to probably do 50-60 bales that next weekend, so I'll do a review.

Alright... got it all hooked up and working, baled our first with it.

Took some time to get the size right - we wanted 4x4's or so. However, it's a beautiful baler, nice, tight, twine wraps fantastic.

It didn't have all the toys I thought it did - we just got the basic tieing thing, not the bale command II or whatever. Also, some parts and bolts were missing, but I blame this on the dealer, great guy... but they don't sell round balers that often. Brush hogs, tractors, all to mostly utility / municipality stuff. Not big in ag.

Thumbs up... going to be doing more bales Saturday, hopefully getting it a bit more 'broke in'.
