New Holland T1510 Oil Filter leaking

I did a 50 hour oil change on my T1510. After the change I noticed that the oil filter was leaking. The filter was marked 'tighten 1 1/2 turns after seal contact.' This is what I did. Upon starting the engine, the filter has a steady drip. So I attempted to tighten it down more and the leak got worse. I had bought 2 oil filters so I drained the oil again and this time put on the second filter. In my T1510 manual, it states ' tighten 3/4 turn after seal contact. So this time I only tightened 3/4 turn. The oil is still leaking out of the second new oil filter, worse than the first. I drained the oil again and took off the filter. I'm looking at the seal and holding it up to the engine and it does not seem like a big enough diameter to cover the cutout in the engine block. Makes sense to me why it is leaking. I had thrown out the filter that came with the tractor new, so I can't compare what was on the tractor when I purchased it. I got the new filters from the New Holland dealer and they were part number 84475542. This is the part number that I see on many sites for this tractor. Has anyone else had issues seating in an oil filter so that it does not leak?

I have a T1530, I have changed oil twice with no problems. Could the gasket from the 1st filter be stuck to the engine block? Take of the filter again and rub your finger on the block it should be flat metal. Make sure your dip stick is in all the way or oil will pump out, that happened to me once.

And just verify your filter says NH 87415600 if not the gasket may not be the correct diameter.

When you install the new filter do add oil to the gasket prior to installing.

84475542 is the correct NH filter and replaces 87415600 and prior part numbers. The very last 87415600 filters had some type of QC issue and were recalled by NH. There were specific date code ranges of problematic 874125600 filters, but no reports of problems with the 84475542 filters from either NH or my customers.

Just an idea..... I have a NH T1510 and get my filters from NAPA. No problems.
