I'm quite surprised at the lack of responses to the OP, and even more surprised at the relatively low number of page views.

The only reason I can think of is the fact that this is such a rare problem. I bought the new holland for its outstanding record of reliability and performance. At least if anyone else is having this problem they can search it out here. Im thankful I found this forum to join.

I know at least one other poster on this forum had a t1520 with a noise in the engine that no one could find. I hope he finds this post. I wish I could remember who it was i would send him a pm.

Bill,

I did a search in the archives. The guys handle was jaymar 421 and I sent him a pm. His problem was reported last April.

Looks like the pan and the timing cover had to come off. What is the function of the port block? Was it installed backward or was it just rotated 180 from verticle in the wrong direction? Probably the latter since the shaft looks a little off center. I'll bet they had some one new doing that part of the assembly and he screwed up a bunch of motors.

I would think that if the oil port block was off by 180 deg you wouldn't get oil to all of the proper passages. I also sent jaymar a pm yesterday.

The oil port block is off by 180 degrees. Same as the one found in our shop. The engine was oiling normally.

Bvinson: What year is the tractor?

We are VERY thankful for for the dealer (not sure if I can say the name or not) who was able to pinpoint exactly what the problem is. Two other dealers and a rep had told us there was nothing wrong with our T1520. However, this one outstanding dealer took the time to figure it out. Thanks so much to Tractor By Net for all the information posted to keep us informed! Our tractor is scheduled to go in for the repair very soon! I will definitely be purchasing a lot of extra maintenance supplies from this dealer. Thanks again :)

I'm covering for our vacationing service manager while he is away and I see that we have a fresh work order on an out-of-the area ticking T1520 to come in later this month. Coincidence? Maybe not.
Regarding the naming of names, I never heard any dealership personnel complain about good publicity, and this would be no different.

Thanks for looking us up! Our tractor is at a dealership in eastern NY right now. They seem to be a top notch dealer. The service manager came out and heard the noise immediately. We are hoping to have our tractor back soon! Thanks to TBN and the people here who have helped us out :)
