New Holland T4030 hydraulic pump question

I bought a used 2008 T4030 in 2010. I am possibly in the market for a 3 point hitch firewood processor but want to make sure that it has enough hydraulics to handle it. Specs say that it either comes with a 12.8 gpm or an optional 16.1. How can I tell which one? Called the NH dealer and they weren't sure. It came with two remotes, so I am hopeful for the bigger pump. The smaller pump is 0.8 more than the least recommended by Wallenstein but I would rather be in the middle to upper end of the specs if possible. Thanks.

Give your dealer your serial number and ask him to run it and print the variante (build sheet) report. That will tell you which pump it has. If he won't do it or can't figure out how, PM me the serial number and I will do it for you.

Dealer THINKS it has the 12.8 gpm pump but says that there is always the possibility of it having a 16.1.

Why couldn't I just swap out the pump for a 16.1?

Yep, Rick is right on. Give them your SN and they'll tell you everything about it down to what month/year it was built. CNH does a fantastic job of supporting all the brands they have purchased over the years.

Another great support item from CNH is their online parts store. When you first go in, select a dealer from your area that will take online orders. That will allow you to shop for parts and see a price of each one. Do a parts search "By Model" and find the large pump, select it, then look at the price. That might give you pause to changing out the pump.

Forgot to add, love your tractor. I came within an inch of buying a 4050 a couple years ago. I always hear good things about those models.

I had a 93 Ford 3930FWD that I bought new. Loved that tractor, but it was lacking HP for my hay equipment on the hills around here. Found this T4030 and love the ergonomics for sure. Everything is laid out nice for sure. I do believe the quality of the 3930 was a bit better though. If I ever come across a nice 5030, it may come home as a second powerplant. In the meantime, my M-I-L has one of the last 3930s made in 2wd. Some day I would like to buy it off of her. It has less than 100 hours on it so far. I keep the oil changed yearly for her.

That would be a jewel to have for sure!!!! If anything it would suffer from "lack" of use.

The GPM's can be determined by warming up the engine.

Plug a hose into one of the remote outlets and place the other end in a 5 Gal bucket.

Rev the engine to max, and then push the remote lever to max for the work port with hose..

A 12 GPM pump will pump 12 GPM in 60 sec
