New Holland TB100 Tach not working

Recently I went to start the tractor and noticed the tachometer and temperature gauge wasn't registering.

Any tips of troubleshooting this issue? I'm fairly novice in these types of issues but I'd love to learn and have no problem getting my hands dirty... What does the tachometer and temperature gauge connect to for their data? Guessing the wiring harness must plug into a sensor somewhere?

I'm not familiar with your machine although I just reconditioned my tach cable.
Find and remove the cable. It should connect to the back side of the gauge.
I used a graphite powder to lubricate the inside of the cable.
Re-installed and we're all fixed.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but how does the tach cable work? What does the other end connect to?

Don't know the official name of the part for what it connects to.
What ever it's called, it spins and is registered on your tach.
Find the cable by following whichever ever wire comes off the meter, trace it back, remove, refurbish, replace.

I broke down and purchased a maintenance manual for the tractor. Appears the tach is registered off a wire that runs to the alternator.. I also happened to notice while messing with it, that the battery wasn't being charged by the alternator.

So I think that's the source of my issues.. Now to figure out why my alternator is misbehaving
