new holland tc 40a
2006 tc40a 328 hrs JUST WANTED TO SHARE THIS BIT OF INFO. while putting on my long elec hydro kit. i had to access the dash so i took of part of the lower cowl to find a great mess part due to mice and part due to china men @ factory.
i found a big nest in there w/ 2 wires part stripped glad i found them this early and not in middle of job. mind you my tractor is parked under cover all time except for 1-2 days during logging season. seems like those mice sense heat and quickly find a nice spot. but the real disapointment was the quality of the wire routing from factory. now i know why people wright in saying they are having trouble. there was wires running across sharp edges w/ no loom on them plus the loom would stop right after entering the cowl area. thats really gonna save alot of money for the NH boys right? also on mine the wires were right aginst the joint were the shift levers move, not good. at any rate i just thought i could save some prob. for someone else. so get in there and tie back and protect those wires. good day

I am not sure what is done in Georgia; hopefully someone "in the know" will answer this question. I was told parts may be imported, but unit was completely assemblied in USA.

What is your source of information for what's done in GA and what's done overseas?

I don't know where your tractor is assembled and I don't really care. The issue seems to be that you found rodent damage and also wiring that was not up to your standards. Too bad you couldn't have taken some pictures. We would all know more about what you found. Since quality is somewhat subjective, I would ask if you saw any real damage from the way the wires were routed? You mentioned that your wires were against a shift lever joint. Did the wire seem worn?

I have found that often just saying what you found and having a picture goes a long way at describing a situation. If you make disparaging remarks about a process or a location where you don't have specific knowledge, someone will take you to task for your remarks.

I appreciate your letting us know that you found wiring that you were not happy with. Your comments about rodents also relate to issues that we have heard from many others. I think you have to take positive steps to prevent that type of infestation. I have been lucky to not have it on my TC, but I did have rodent damage (and wasp nests) in my old Ford Jubilee.

Thanks for your concern and letting us all know what you found. I hope you will continue to report things you find that are less than optimal in your opinion.:)

The amount of assembly done at their GA facility varies between models, but the TC31,TC34,TC35,TC40 and TC45 are fully assembled in GA. The engines and transmissions are purchased from their Japanese supplier as separate assemblies. All the remaining component parts are added during the assembly process.

Their other TC models are basically purchased as complete units. Some get final assembly at their plant and other are shipped to dealers in the crates.

No feathers ruffled; just wanted you to know it is assembled in USA, not some Chinaman doing it. We Americans should be proud of what we do here in the good old USA. Workmanship should be superior.

We "should be proud of what we do" here in the USA, but often we are not. In fact, how can we be when so many are taught in school to hate their country of birth...the "good old USA".

As a result we are on the way to becoming a third world nation and the construction practices uncovered by the Mayor bear witness to that fact. If the Mayor made any mistake, it was in giving his countrymen the benefit of the doubt.

While these practices may have slipped by in the China of 20 years ago, today they would bring needed criticism. Unfortunately such criticism has become all too rare in American plants. With management forced to handle labor with kid gloves in the plants where I've worked, inferior practices slowly became the rule rather than the exception.

This doesn't bode well for the Good Old USA.
