Bob_Young said:We "should be proud of what we do" here in the USA, but often we are not. In fact, how can we be when so many are taught in school to hate their country of birth...the "good old USA".
As a result we are on the way to becoming a third world nation and the construction practices uncovered by the Mayor bear witness to that fact. If the Mayor made any mistake, it was in giving his countrymen the benefit of the doubt.
While these practices may have slipped by in the China of 20 years ago, today they would bring needed criticism. Unfortunately such criticism has become all too rare in American plants. With management forced to handle labor with kid gloves in the plants where I've worked, inferior practices slowly became the rule rather than the exception.
This doesn't bode well for the Good Old USA.
