New Holland TC40 vs TC40D vs TC40A vs TC40DA

Hello All,

Seems that New Holland has at least 4 different flavours of the TC40.
I started out trying to understand what the difference was between the TC40 and the TC40DA only to find out you can have a TC40D and a TC40A as well.
Does anyone know what the difference is?

'A' series tractors are a later build than tractors without the 'A'.
'D' tractors are hydrostatic with a few other amenities. Tractors without ther 'D' designation are gear drive and less well appointed.

So, a TC40DA is a new version of a TC40D.
Is there a way to tell what differences are when the "A" is put on the tractor.
My guess is there must be some diference or why chnage the model numer to an A.
